The Destruction of Remolding

We're currently remolding our kitchen. Here's a word of advice for you: don't remolded your kitchen. or anything in your house beyond something very small like a bathroom, for that matter. It's not worth it.

Okay, so I guess I can't really say it's not worth yet since the entire house is a complete disaster, but it sure feels like it now. We had to box up and move all the dishes and utensils and things like that in the kitchen and move all the food. We can still use the fridge and the stove, but the stove is covered in drywall dust, so food made in/on it will be of questionable safety. There's also drywall dust everywhere inside the house. It's horrible.

So my suggestion to you is to either buy a house with a kitchen you already like or learn to live with it.

  1. Sounds like a messy process. Does your new kitchen have any new features that the old one didn't?

  2. Our new kitchen will have two ovens--a convection and a regular. It will have 80 square feet of counter space (which I don't even know why you would need that much, but I guess it will be nice). We're taking out a wall and adding an island. I think there will be a very organized spice drawer with matching bottles so things don't get lost. We're going to have a five-burner stove. We're taking out the door and the built in cutting board, both of which I am very sad about. We might have a pull cutting board to compensate though. Overall, it's just going to be bigger and more spacious.

  3. Will you have a hand in this remodeling project?

  4. Only parts of it. My dad's doing most of it. I mostly just help with the clean up, of which there is plenty.
